Ghosts of Shanghai

As the new steel and glass tower blocks loom overhead the days are numbered for the street culture of Shanghai's old town. Block after block is emptied out, boarded up and knocked down. In their place new developments of high rise apartments within gated communities. Soon the pavements that were once markets, restaurants, living rooms and meeting places will be empty and silent. Here then are the ghosts of one corner of Shanghai.
